How "soap" stopped being soap

A note from the founder

One night I flipped over the "gentle" bar in our shower and read the label. I couldn't pronounce half of it, and my kids were washing with it every single day.

What is tallow soap?

The original soap. For thousands of years, soap was made by combining rendered animal fat (tallow) with lye and clean oils. KONG bars use grass-fed beef tallow plus food-grade oils like coconut, avocado and jojoba, scented with real essential oils. Same method, made by hand in small batches.

Is it good for sensitive skin?

Our bars are made without sulfates or synthetic fragrance, and Pure Tallow is completely fragrance-free with no essential oils and no mica. As with any new skin product, patch test on a small area first if your skin is reactive. Everyone's skin is different.

How strong are the scents?

All scent comes from real essential oils, so they're present in the shower and subtle after. Nothing perfumey, nothing synthetic. If you want zero scent, that's exactly what Pure Tallow is for.
